The first private medical center to achieve JCI Accreditation in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, UAE: Only a few months after its official opening, HealthPlus Women’s Health Center has taken the lead by becoming the first private medical center in Abu Dhabi to be accredited by the US-based Joint Commission International (JCI). Being recognized internationally as the premier credential for health facilities, the accreditation recognizes institutions that constantly strive to achieve the highest standards in patient care, safety and quality. This accomplishment is in-line with the Health Authority-Abu Dhabi’s priority of safeguarding patient safety in all healthcare services and building patient trust in health systems.

Mr. Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of HealthPlus, explained: “Our focus has always been on delivering uncompromising levels of medical and service excellence. Being accredited by the JCI reaffirms the trust and the confidence, which so many women and their families have placed in our staff and team of expert physicians. It also places us at the forefront as we continue in our vital role in the treatment of the complex medical needs of women of all ages”.

The centers will be part of the integrated healthcare delivery system being developed by the parent company, United Eastern Medical Services, which includes Danat Al Emarat Women and Children’s Hospital in Abu Dhabi.

JCI’s on-site evaluation was carried out by a team of international health care experts. Dr. Walid, Medical Director of HealthPlus Women’s Health Center shared the following: “It took months of preparation and intensive training to ensure that our staff and facility were ready for the inspection. The survey process was rigorous and focused on the areas that most directly impact patient care. These include access to care, assessment of patients, infection control, patient and family education and clinical outcomes. Standards also assessed where the facility management and safety program, staff qualifications, quality improvement, organizational leadership, and management of information. We were commended on the exceptional design of the facility, complexity and range of treatments as well as the state-of-the-art technology and equipment available”.

The Joint Commission International has been working with healthcare organizations, ministries of health, and global organizations in over 80 countries. With its accreditation, HealthPlus Women’s Health Center enters a prestigious league of world-class health care organizations around the world. Currently, there are less than 300 JCI accredited facilities world-wide, which all share the same commitment to providing the best healthcare services to their patients.
